Have to keep up.. I see I have only posted 6 of my songs on here. That means I am short 1 1/2.
I think today, to try to catch up, I will add another song that I produced a few years ago.
All of the stuff I do is a story of either something I experienced or what I was thinking. This song is telling a true story. "The Blue Bird Café", I wrote in about 1995 when I was camping at the Owls Roost Camp Ground on I-65 North of Nashville. There were a few of us hanging out at the campground and trying to push our music down on 2nd avenue. Working writer's nights, attending songwriters workgroups and just hangin out and playing where we could. Gary Brothers was playing for tips down at the Wagon Burner on Broadway and I would join him and sit in. Not going to make a living but it was putting it out there. Tom and Gracey were camping out and trying to get some attention on his music. Often wonder about these guys. Have not been able to track them and always look for any signs of success. It was a good time and I have some fond memories of those day.

This was one of the songs I sang when they pulled my name out of the hat at the Blue Bird Café.

I got here, just the other day,
Drove around awhile found a place to stay.
Made a phone call so I could find the way,
to Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café.
(Chorus)
Nashville’s Blue Bird Café,
Got my number, so I could play.
Gotta wonder what they will say,
At Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café.
Please Jesus, I can’t be shy,
Help me Jesus, which song should I,
Let my voice be true, let my fingers fly.
Oh, It’s my turn it’s do or die.
(Chorus)
Nashville’s Blue Bird Café,
Got my number, so I could play.
Gotta wonder what they will say,
At Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café.
(shift F#- G- G# - A)
Yes I’m new here, but I hope to stay.
And no matter what, I can always say.
That I had a chance to sing and play,
at Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café,
(Chorus)
Nashville’s Blue Bird Café,
Got my number, so I could play.
Gotta wonder what they will say,
At Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café.
I’m more than just a little stressed,
I realize they’ve heard the very best.
I’m just prayin’ they’ll be a little impressed.
But, whatever I’ve sure been blessed - to play
At Nashville ’s
Blue Bird Café.
(chorus and add ) I’m hopin’ I do ok at Nashville ’s Blue Bird Café
