Respect

This is something I have been going to post for some time. I wrote this years ago, but going over it again I still like it and enjoy what it says.

Respect

It is mostly about respect.

Respect for yourself first.

Respect for your family.

Respect for your heritage.

Thinking about where we come from and the people we call siblings and parents. People we are proud and happy to call our parents. People we think about with love and admiration and so much respect. Respect for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is he disappointed with our lifestyle? Is he disappointed with our decisions?

What thing in this life do we most desire? Happiness? Have we experienced so little happiness? In thinking about our life I think we have been most disappointed with ourselves and our wrong choices. I mean, what has brought us the most unhappiness. Other than the natural progression of life and death it has been of our own doing. It should be a pleasing thought to make our friends and family happy to say that we are doing well in the battle of life and faith.

I don't want to be the cause of any disappointment. I want my children and grandchildren to look at my life and know that I tried with every fiber to be a good and decent Christian. To keep a cool head and see beyond my self and my own pursuits. Not that we aren't entitled to our own life but to realize that they are part and parcel of that life. What we do and choose to do does in such a large way directly effect their life and the choices they will make, now and in the future. So, help me Lord to make right choices. Help me keep your will in mind in all my choices. Help me think about those who love me and care about me, and help my example be true to them and to you.
