"Oh the Agony" #13

The Passion of Christ. How can we really begin to imagine what our Savior endured. In this song I have felt the touch of God. The first time I performed it, there were only four of us gathered together and sitting in our living room in Sharon, Wisconsin. I know that the Spirit of God was in the words and music and as I played the last few notes, I felt the presence of the Lord so completely that I knew that he was there with us. I realize that only those who have experienced a similar circumstance would understand and I wish that everyone could have this experience. There have been times when I have been pulled this way or that and away from what I know to be true, but it is experiences and the touch of Jesus that will pull us back to the Throne of Grace to live in his perfect peace.

Psalm 22:14         I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

Praise God, my God, oh the agony
you felt for me  . . . at Calvary,
To wear the crown of thorns for me,
Blood shed for me . . to set me free.

Here is thy servant Lord,
Take over my heart and my soul,
Empty my heart of evil Lord,
Cleanse me and make me whole.

Praise God, praise God, such love for me,
To die for me on Calvary's tree.
Thy hands and feet pierced through I see,
Upon the cross you died for me.

Humbly now before thee Lord,
Take all of my silver and gold,
Oh blessed shepherd come,
Take this spirit into the fold.

Oh Lamb of God, flesh torn for me,
The pain is done, your soul is free.
Then Jesus rose, and man could see,
The promise of eternity.

Praise God, my God, oh the agony,
you felt for me . at Calvary.
Praise God, my God, such love for me,
To die for me on Calvary's tree.

Oh precious savior, you died for me.

"Fool Fool"

"Fool Fool" song #12

So many thoughts run through my mind concerning this song. In my thoughts, when I wrote this, I saw the times we were living in back in the 70s, as being flooded with ideas and policies that confused our thinking and our understanding. It is even more so today. We are buried under a virtual flood of ignorance and lies, ideas and beliefs that go against our fundamental
and traditional values.
In our religious world, the churches are being called on to accept ideas and lifestyles that are totally contrary to the things that they have based their beliefs on. Specifically the Bible. In my mind, I think you nullify all your beliefs when you re-write and alter the interpretation to make a very wrong and sinful way acceptable.

Isaiah 43:2

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Floods of the ages are over my head,
covered in darkness, in league with the dead
False prophets before me were blinding my eyes,
following fools believing their lies

Fool Fool, I was a fool,
Satan was using me as a tool
So deep in the darkness that I couldn't hear
The voice of my savior so soft on my ear

On one certain evening there met a crowd,
my name was mentioned while heads were bowed
While friends were calling I saw a sign
A soul was saved, and praise God, it was mine

Fools fools, a world full of fools
Satan is using the world as a tool
But out of the darkness a light appears
And they voice of the Savior falls soft on each ear

Now I thank God for the people who pray
For brothers and sisters who've gone astray
Satan spreads darkness, evil and snares
But Souls will be saved through the power of prayer

Fools fools, a world full of fools
Satan is using the world as a tool
But out of the darkness a light appears
And the voice of his spirit falls soft on each ear

Out of the darkness a light appears
And the voice of our Savior falls soft on each ear

The Lunar Dream #11

The Apollo 11 flight of July 1969 was an amazing and unbelievable achievement.

Those of us who were around at that time and experienced this event will not pass this off as just another small part of our history..       We were transfixed to radio and tv to follow the extra-ordinary accomplishment of NASA and all the people involved in this project.

Could writers like H. G. Wells, Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ray Bradbury, Gene Roddenberry  and other fiction writers have really foreseen events like this. A people of such ingenuity and imagination. I just feel blessed to be a part of this generation.

As a songwriter I was inspired by this event and a poem my father had written for me one birthday.
I penned and put music to this little song.

I had a wild dream last night,
Oh what a wild dream I had last night.
I sailed all alone on a long space flight,
It was really, really out of sight.

(recitation)
The first man to set foot on the lunar surface,
To bring back the soil my one solitary purpose,
My course was set, there was no turning back.
As the module descended things went black.

When I woke up and looked around,
everything was dark, there was not a sound.
I got out my flashlight, put my moon suit on,
Opened the hatch and things went wrong.

From below my spaceship I heard a roar,
And made up my mind, I'd not take one step more.
From below me now I could see two yellow eyes,
And from the distance between em, I could judge his size.

Some kinda creature was glarin at me,
in the bottom of a crater in a tranquil sea.
Then all of a sudden, I was knocked from my perch.
As I hit the surface, things looked worse.

All alone on the moon, in the bottom of a crater,
Me and some kinda Lunar Alligator.
Nowhere to go, no way to get out.
I'm a gonner for sure, there is no doubt.

I reached for a rock, but to no avail,
I ducked, but too late,
he caught me with his tail.
All alone on the moon with that Ugly Pup,

Well.....that's when I woke up.
Home from the moon, and if I never dream again
It will be too soon.

I had a wild dream last night,
Oh what a wild dream I had last night.
I sailed all alone on a long space flight,
It was really, really out of sight.

It was really, really out of sight.

Under the willow

(Recitation)    The grizzled old sailor, after long years at sea, returns to the now
half forgotten old tree. Under it's withering branches a stone, and on
it - the song of a love left alone.

Under the willow, so long ago,
kisses so tender, he whispered low,
sweet words of forever, always together
and darling never - to part.

(refrain)     The willow leaves are falling,
          her broken heart is calling,
for love she found and thought was her own,
          under the willow tree.

Then without warning, He went away,
She never knew why he couldn't stay.
          So lonely returning, desperatly yearning,
          for his returning, to her.
(refrain)

Under the willow, dreams alive as then,
behind bending branches she can't pretend.
          Tears burn unending, heartaches unmending,
          under the bending, willow tree.
(refrain)

As life grows dimmer, her last request,
to lie where her love, she remembers best.
His true love lies sleeping, his memory keeping,
          under the weeping willow tree.
(refrain)

If he returns, he'll find her here,
as he reads the stone, he'll shed a tear.
Your true love lies sleeping, your memory keeping,
          under the weeping willow tree.

Your true love lies sleeping, your memory keeping,
          under the weeping willow tree.

I see guitar players performing and playing so beautifully. They generally have great hands with long slim fingers. I measured the index finger on my left hand this morning. 2 3/4", makes it a little more difficult on a hand that is broadened by many years of carpentry. I try very hard to get a good clean sound from my playing. That being said, I try to cover bad notes by covering or blunting the string and fret that I can't reach. I would love to play better but, it is what it is. Praise God, I know that I enjoy it if no one else does and I have to believe that I can make a joyful noise unto the Lord and I can feel his presence and approval when enjoying a chorus and song of praise to him. So, I'm just gonna keep doing it. May his blessing be on this blog and the music. Let the words of my mouth, and my typing and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight Oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

Trying to decide what two songs I need to put on here to catch up. I think it will be "Under the Willow" and "I can feel, I can hear, I can see".

Proverbs 2:1-5 (KJV)
2 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

I was lost in my own selfish world,
Caring for no-one but me.
I had all of this earth that a man could ask.
And still I was too blind to see.

I couldn't feel the savior's hand,
I just couldn't hear his plea.
I couldn't see my God's great love, Oh no....
Couldn't feel - couldn't hear  - couldn't see.

Then one day I was standing alone,
My friends I had turned away.
I just couldn't see what was wrong.
Till I turned to the Lord to Pray.

I began to feel the savior's hand,
Began to hear his plea.
I began to see my God's great love.
Began to feel, began to hear, began to see.

My life was different, I began to change,
New friends I began to meet.
I talk with Jesus everyday,
His praises repeat, and repeat.

And now I feel the savior's hand,
And now I hear his Plea.
And now I see my God's great love,
I can feel, I can hear, I can see.

And now I see my God's great love,
I can feel, I can hear, I can see....

Think after this song, I will still be one behind for 2015. This is a song that I had all but forgotten about. It came to mind the other day and I had to go back and check my copyrights to be sure it was covered. It's called "Just let Go", and is a little different. I would have done a live video but couldn't play all the parts. I doubt too that I could do it any better than this rendition. I have included the song with vocal and then just the instrumental.

 "JUST LET GO"

Copyright 1996 - Johnny Blodgett

Hey Babe, I've had enough. Let's call it a day, let's call it quits.

It's evident that this is not working, let's forget it. Really let's just let go.

Just let go, just let go,

There's nothing left for us to hang on to.

Let it go, let it go,

It's over let's have sense enough to know

 It's all right, it's ok

There's nothing left for you or me to say,

We've talked all night, let's let it lay,

It's time for us to go our separate ways.

And it's time for you to look at things they way they really are,

There's nothing left between us now, this time it's gone to far.

Let's just go, let's let it go,

The fact is I don't love you anymore,

Your not that slow, I think you know

Save your breath, I've heard it all before

Don't insult me now with promises you don't intend to keep

I'm tired of jumpin' hurdles, this time it's just too deep.

Just let go,  just let it go,

There's nothing left for us to hang on to,

Let it go, let it go

It's over let's have sense enough to know.

 It's all right, it's ok

there's nothing left for you or me to say

We've talked all night, let's just let it lay

It's time for us to go our separate ways

Just let it go, just let go

There's nothing left between us now,

This time it's gone to far.

 Just let it go

just let go

Let it go

Please, let it go
