#35 "So Long John"

This song from a trip down to Nashville in the 70s.
We walked up and down music row (2nd Ave.)
Chasing a dream and full of hope.
So anyway for some reason my other song "Goin home to Nashville" did not render properly so I have redone the other song.
I still owe you all number 34, and I will work on it. But in the meantime, here is number 35.

 "SO LONG JOHN"

Copyr. 1994 Johnny Blood
  Johnny Blodgett.

Sleepin in the back of a pick up truck,
Money's all gone, guess I'm outa luck,
There ain't no place for John in Music City,

My socks are dirty, God I'm beat,
Music row's a one way street,
For some success for me defeat, I'm leavin.

(refrain)      Music city just don't want me
Music row has no place for me.
I've tried everything I know, but it's so long John,
You-all come again to Music City.

I've knocked on every door on music row,
Chased this dream as far as I can go,
The Grand Ole Opry will never know I've been here,

God only knows the way it hurts,
Broken dreams and dirty shirts
Now it's time to move on down the highway

                    (refrain)

Playin for tips in a Broadway Bar,
Hocked everything but my guitar,
I can't give in I've come to far to quit now.

I gave my all and paid my dues,
wore big holes in both my shoes,
could hang around but please excuse, I'm leavin.

                    (refrain)
                    (alternate)
I hate to leave the few I'm pleasin,
but common scense and all good reason, say it's not the time and not the season.

"read all about it" Song #33

This song has been on my mind for some time. I wrote this in the seventies I think. I say that because of the content. I didn't believe all that was written here until I accepted Christ and began to seriously study God's word. I was writing and sending material off to Johnny Cash. I would send the tapes and lyrics to Johnny Erdelyne who was the go to person for music for Mr. Cash's review. It was rejected but I always thought it would have been a great song for him at the time.
I must admit that I know very little about the newer music of today. I am still working on these songs and music still trying to produce some kind of interest. So much of today's music is not very appealing to me. Can't help it, I try but I still prefer music with a good melody and a strong and meaningful lyric. Too much of the stuff today is for a wrong message or just a special rhythm. Once in a while a song will come along with a special message and a strong melody. Some artists stand out of course. I enjoy a lot of energy and spirit in a song. I lean towards country but today's country is more of a rock song with way too much noise and it loses the beauty of the melody and you hardly understand the lyric. I do enjoy a lot of the new Christian songs and choruses.
This song "Read All About It" says a lot. It is a song of prophecy and comes from thoughts on the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, Psalms and Revelation. The message is the same. I think we are living in the times of the end.

Song number 33

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read All about it.
Did you hear what the man on the radio said?
Another earthquake, two thousand dead,
Multitudes suffering and underfed.
Thousands perish as sickness spreads.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
Pick up the paper and read the headlines;
War continues, the death toll climbs;
troops are shredded by enemy mines;
kingdoms fight over boundary lines.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
Look all around you and read the signs.
Science advances and morals decline;
Prophecy sold of the end of times;
Ten major nations will soon align.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
The world won't listen till the very last day.
When the sun is darkened, who will pray?
When all God's children have been taken away,
There won't be anything left to say.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it . . . . . . Read all about it
It's in the book.

"Oh you vagabond heart"

Time for another new song. Today I am posting this one and dedicating it to my first granddaughter. She is an inspiration in so many ways and I love her so much. Wish we had time to be together more. This song was originally on my first Vagabond Heart Cassette.
This is song number 32 of 52. Posting one new song a week for 2015. If you follow the blog back to earlier posts, you will find one a week for this year.
Enjoy

Oh you vagabond Heart
Why can't you set me free.
Why must you plague me with vagabond dreams,
Why can't you let me be.

You're a lie-er a thief, you've stolen from me
the best years of my life.
You drove me away from the dearest girl,
she would have been my wife.

With vagabond dreams you've branded my heart and
stolen my very soul.
My every thought, the hopes and the dreams
are lost in my vagabond goal.

To what purpose, for what reason have you left me to play
this game to the vagabonds end.
The lonely miles I've traveled today,
To another lonely night I must spend.

Oh, you vagabond heart, you've stolen the best from me.
I gave you my soul,
for a vagabond goal.
What is there next for me.

Oh you vagabond Heart
Why can't you set me free.
Why must you plague me with vagabond dreams,
Why can't you let me be.

"I'm Done With the Blues" and "Turn to Him". Songs #30 and 31.

"I'm done with the blues" is really one of my favorite originals. I especially enjoy the chords on this little Highway One Fender Telecaster. Then the second song on this set, "Turn to Him" is another special song. Songs about things we go through every day. God is good and he has blessed me in more ways than I can count. I hope these songs bless you.

I've been down this road before,
ain't goin down that road no more,
Baby, I'm through with the blues.

Don't be looking for me to cry,
I'm tired of listenin to the same old lies,
Baby, I'm done with the blues.

The way you've treated me, You know it's just not fair,
I'm tired of being lonely, I've had all that I can bare.

No more sittin home alone,
waitin for you to dial the phone,
You're baby is through with the blues.

(instrumental)

No more sittin home alone, I've found me a sunny day,
I've torn up all your letters and I threw them all away.

I got a new life waitin for me,
gotta get back to reality,
So baby, I'm done with the blues.

(instrumental)

No more sittin home alone, I've found me a sunny day,
I've torn up all your letters and I threw them all away.

I got a new life waitin for me,
gotta get back to reality,
So baby,
I'm done with the blues

Turn to Him
  ©1994 John Blodgett
  Johnny Blodgett Composer

Turn to him, when when you're all alone,
Turn to him when the nights are long,
Don't give in to the sinner's song,
Turn to him and he'll make you strong.

(recitation)
You know so many times we feel the world has been so unkind,
And the problems of the every day are so heavy on our minds,
We start thinking in terms of nickles and dimes,
Let's not forget the one who made the sunshine.

Turn to him, he's allways there,
Turn to him, he will aways care,
He died but he lives our burdens to share.
Turn to him, you'll find him there.

(recitation)
So many things are happening in our world today,
So many souls have found the wrong way.
The books and theaters advertise Satin's moral decay,
And those who would follow, can't see the awful price they must pay.

Turn to him, when you can't go on,
He waits for your call, he'll make you strong.
When everything's lost and all hope is gone,
Turn to him and you'll never be alone.

(recitation)
No matter how wrong your way has been,
All you need do is believe in him,
He layed down his life to pay for our sin,
Turn to him and you can start your life again.

Turn to him, he's allways there,
Turn to him, he will aways care,
He died but he lives our burdens to share.
Turn to him, you'll find him there.
