"Lead Them Home"

This has been a lot of fun. This song, I think is the thirteenth gospel song that I have published on the blog. In the blog year 2015 you will find 53 original songs penned by myself or my son Jason. All with the grace of God and some with the assistance of the holy spirit. The song "Lead Them Home" was written in the early 1970s and inspired by the word of God, usually the King James Version.
If for no other reason but to lift my spirits and sing God's praise.

If you should wonder about the verse that says to keep them under his blood, the bible says in 1st John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. In Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

There are brothers and sisters lost in the darkness.
Reach out and take them by the hand.
Reach out in spirit, let Jesus guide us.
Lead them into life through forgiveness of sin.

(Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

Close friends and neighbors, all who will listen
Tell them of the love and the mercy of God
Relatives and friends. All who will listen
Lead them back to life, keep them under his blood

      (Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

The kingdom draws nearer, it's time for the harvest
draw back and let his sickle swing
Have faith and fear not, nothing can harm us
Prepare for the coming of the king.

(Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

Song number 48 "Look up, Look up, Thy redemtion draweth nie."

"May I say to you" is what I hear. The voice and words of Dr. J. Vernon McGee with his Through the Bible programs, which are still being aired almost 30 years after his death. Thru the bible
I use his podcasts and sermons as a great source of meditation and understanding.
We have so much information at our fingertips via tv, radio, internet and telephone. Sometimes it is almost impossible, no my friends it is altogether impossible to understand what we are up against. We see through a glass darkly, as the King James bible puts it. 1st Corinthians 13:12.
It is so easy to just be taken up with our every day existence and not to worry or care about the things we seem to have absolutely no control over. But there is something you and I can do, should do. Must do! We can Pray!

My thoughts today take me to Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, South Africa, the middle East, Europe and Eastern Europe, the millions of souls who are displaced by famine and war. Most of the old world and much of the new world. I see children all gaunt and shriveled up, hollow eyed with their abdomen distended from starvation. See people drowning and being murdered while trying to flee the destruction. To use McGee's words, "may I say to you my beloved", there will be no end to these trials in our lifetime. In Luke 21:9-38,"

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him."

This song came from a dream I had in 1972. The dream was very real to me. I was standing and talking with a friend about how the Lord would come in the clouds and as I spoke to her, I looked up and saw a swirling in the clouds and then Jesus emerging with his hand reached down to me. As I saw this, I reached out my hand and was lifted up to meet him in the air. Praise God! It was and is real to me.

"Look Up, Thy redemption draweth nigh"
©1994 John Blodgett

While I kneeled in prayer last night at my bed,
The spirit of God came over me.
I will not forget the words that he said,
three times he repeated it to me.

Look up, look up, thy redemption draweth nigh
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Watch and pray that worthy you may be
to stand before the Son of Man.

As I lay asleep, I dreamed my savior came,
I was standing with a friend,
and as he approached, I heard him call my name,
He reached down and took me by the hand.

What a thrill filled my soul, as I was lifted up.
My friend was left standing there.
From behind me she called, but I couldn't turn my head
and I met my savior in the air.

What a wonderful dream, I will not forget
But a heavenly message was there.
I must reach my friends so they may not be left
and remember them always in prayer.

Song #42 "WILL YOUR HOUSE BE EMPTY"

I had planned to publish something else but felt a gospel song would be more fitting for me right now. A recent post attributed to Pope Francis said “It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person."  Jesus said to the young man who called him "Good Master", "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone". The erroneous quote went on to say "In a way, the traditional notion of God is outdated." The whole thing was a very worldly statement. There is no expiration date on God. Though life on earth changes and cultures change over time, our God is unchanging. Heaven and earth will pass away but his word will never pass away. Jesus Christ is Lord yesterday today and forever. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Generally people will believe what they want to. I am not Catholic but have enough respect for the Pope to believe that he thinks it's necessary to believe in God and that the notion of God is definitely not outdated.

 Will your house be empty

Will your house be empty, after his coming,
Will there be a soul left that hasn't been saved.
In a twinkling we're taken to be with our savior,
Is your house in order, are any enslaved?

                                        (Refrain)
Will your house be empty, will there be a soul,
Who's held by the chains of the seeds he has sowed.
To save them before time, let that be our goal.
Let their name be added to the heavenly role.

The chains of destruction are of our own making,
New links have been added each time we have strayed,
His word is before us, there's no time for waiting.
The time for his coming will not be delayed.

                                        (Refrain)

The kingdom is coming, Jesus is calling,
Give your life over to the master today,
Your sins are forgiven, it's yours for the asking,
All things are given to him that would pray.

                                        (Refrain)

Don't wait any longer, break loose from the bondage,
He's lifting you up in his glorious name.
His love is unending, his angels he's sending,
Those who won't harken, will die in their shame.

                                        (Refrain)

"read all about it" Song #33

This song has been on my mind for some time. I wrote this in the seventies I think. I say that because of the content. I didn't believe all that was written here until I accepted Christ and began to seriously study God's word. I was writing and sending material off to Johnny Cash. I would send the tapes and lyrics to Johnny Erdelyne who was the go to person for music for Mr. Cash's review. It was rejected but I always thought it would have been a great song for him at the time.
I must admit that I know very little about the newer music of today. I am still working on these songs and music still trying to produce some kind of interest. So much of today's music is not very appealing to me. Can't help it, I try but I still prefer music with a good melody and a strong and meaningful lyric. Too much of the stuff today is for a wrong message or just a special rhythm. Once in a while a song will come along with a special message and a strong melody. Some artists stand out of course. I enjoy a lot of energy and spirit in a song. I lean towards country but today's country is more of a rock song with way too much noise and it loses the beauty of the melody and you hardly understand the lyric. I do enjoy a lot of the new Christian songs and choruses.
This song "Read All About It" says a lot. It is a song of prophecy and comes from thoughts on the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, Psalms and Revelation. The message is the same. I think we are living in the times of the end.

Song number 33

"Read All About it"

Johnny Blodgett Composer

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read All about it.
Did you hear what the man on the radio said?
Another earthquake, two thousand dead,
Multitudes suffering and underfed.
Thousands perish as sickness spreads.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
Pick up the paper and read the headlines;
War continues, the death toll climbs;
troops are shredded by enemy mines;
kingdoms fight over boundary lines.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
Look all around you and read the signs.
Science advances and morals decline;
Prophecy sold of the end of times;
Ten major nations will soon align.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it. . . . . . . Read all about it.
The world won't listen till the very last day.
When the sun is darkened, who will pray?
When all God's children have been taken away,
There won't be anything left to say.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Mmm. . . .mmm.....mmm.

Read all about it . . . . . . Read all about it
It's in the book.
