#16 "Big Ole Star" and #17. One a week for 2015.

This blog helps me understand how God feels when he lays out all his wonders and gifts and we just slide along take for granted and hardly take notice. I thank God for his love, for the friends and family he has given me. I want to remember always to respond to him. In every way that he makes himself known to me. Sometimes that is just through you. When you view this blog or see what I am trying to share, it matters so much.
Anyway, I have promised one song a week for 2015 so I will catch up today. If you are a subscriber you will see it, otherwise it will just be out there.
I am a week behind, so posting #16 and 17.

This is #16 and hope you enjoy "Big Ole Star".
#17 is "Thy Will Be My Way".

"I WANNA BE A BIG OLE STAR"
                                                                                 Copyr. 1994
                                                                                      Johnny Blodgett.

I'm not askin a lot,
Just to use the talent I got,
before they measure my plot,
I wanna be a big ole star.

(refrain)     I wanna be a big ole star,
I know I could go far.
Me and my old guitar,
I wanna be a big ole star.

I sent a tape off today,
for the publishing company to play.
I'm sure they won't turn me away,
I wanna be a big ole star.

                   (refrain)

I'm gonna be right at the top,
cause I'm the pick of the crop,
next to me "Garth" is a flop,
I'm gonna be a big ole star.

                   (refrain)

I'll buy a big house in nashville.
Pappy can close down the still,
The dream of my life I'll fullfill.
I'm gonna be a big ole star.

                   (refrain)

Thy Will Be My Way
©1994 John Blodgett

Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

I've made my choice, I'll follow Jesus,
I'll turn away from worldly sin,
He offers more, yes so much more.
He holds the key to heaven's door.

I pray that thy will will be my way,
all through life's journey from day to day.
And Lord I know when my journey's through,
I'll stand in heaven and look face to face with you.

His precious word will lead me home,
and keep me safe until he comes,
his Holy spirit will teach me well.
I'll never fear the fires of hell.

I pray that thy will will be my way,
all through life's journey from day to day.
And Lord I pray when my journey's through,
I'll stand in heaven and look face to face with you.

It's not for me to know the hour,
when he will come in heaven's power,
but keep the watch and overcome,
this is my charge from God the Son.

I pray that thy will will be my way,
all through life's journey from day to day.
And Lord I pray when my journey's through,
I'll stand in heaven and look face to face with you.

"I THREW IT ALL AWAY'

I THREW IT ALL AWAY....
This will be number 15 for week fifteen this year. A yodel song and something different. A number of years ago my friend Joe Higgins and I went downtown to visit with Jan Coleman on her WGN late night program. We had some fun. Joe added the back up playing for this song with some sweet pickin and great accompaniment. Jan was such a dear to have us on there. She is still on radio I think. WBBM if I am not mistaken.
Anyway, we had fun and I hope you enjoy my number 15 of 52 for 2015.

        "I threw it all away"
                                                        Copyr. 1994
                                                           John Blodgett composer

I never dreamed I'd find a love quite so fair,
Ribbons in her hair, sunshine everywhere.
She was all a man could cherish and adore,
Still I wanted more, she walked right out the door.

(Yodel)

She left me here alone, and now I sit and cry,
Oh Lord why did I lie? I didn't even try,
She's gone and all I do is sit along and pine,
for love that once was mine, I'm sure I'll lose my mind.

(Yodel)

The world and all it's gold were mine yesterday,
I threw it all away, a cheatin game to play.
And now the gold is gone and I am to blame,
I'll live my life in shame, I'll never smile again.

"Don't Play That Song Again"

Spring is in the air and a young man's heart turns to love.

Oh well, she came and went. This song was written a little after Randy Travis's "I told you so."

Song number 14

"Don't play that song again"

words and music

(refrain)   Don't play that song again, it's tearing me apart,
The one about I told you so, you knew it at the start.
The words cut like a razor as I listen to each part,
Running through my troubled mind, engraved upon my heart

Oh God I wish I'd listened when you told me you'd be mine,
You offered me your heart and soul, I was just so blind.
The sun, the moon, the stars, the world and all it's gold,
I'd give them all to turn the clock to that night I let you go.

(refrain)  Don't play that song again, it's tearing me apart,

The one about I told you so, you knew it at the start.
The words cut like a razor as I listen to each part,
Running through my troubled mind, engraved upon my heart

Why couldn't I have seen it then, you knew I loved you too,
But you let me go to chase a dream, it's what I had to do.
While I was chasing rainbows, you found some-one new,
And I found a bitter heartache, cause I'm still in love with you.

(refrain)    Don't play that song again, it's tearing me apart,

The one about I told you so, you knew it at the start.
The words cut like a razor as I listen to each part,
Running through my troubled mind, engraved upon my heart
