"Lead Them Home"

This has been a lot of fun. This song, I think is the thirteenth gospel song that I have published on the blog. In the blog year 2015 you will find 53 original songs penned by myself or my son Jason. All with the grace of God and some with the assistance of the holy spirit. The song "Lead Them Home" was written in the early 1970s and inspired by the word of God, usually the King James Version.
If for no other reason but to lift my spirits and sing God's praise.

If you should wonder about the verse that says to keep them under his blood, the bible says in 1st John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. In Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

"LEAD THEM HOME"
©1994 John Blodgett
There are brothers and sisters lost in the darkness.
Reach out and take them by the hand.
Reach out in spirit, let Jesus guide us.
Lead them into life through forgiveness of sin.

(Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

Close friends and neighbors, all who will listen
Tell them of the love and the mercy of God
Relatives and friends. All who will listen
Lead them back to life, keep them under his blood

      (Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

The kingdom draws nearer, it's time for the harvest
draw back and let his sickle swing
Have faith and fear not, nothing can harm us
Prepare for the coming of the king.

(Refrain)
Lead them home, home, home to Jesus
That's his own wonderful plan
Win a soul, a soul, a soul for Jesus
Through his holy word into that heavenly land.

Here's 52. "you've got me dreamin," I will get back to #50 later. I know you will like this one.

"You've got me dreamin"

Johnny Blodgett Composer

You've got me dreamin, you've got me schemin,
You don't know baby what you do to me.
You've got me lyin, you've got me tryin,
For love that wasn't meant to be.

I want to touch you, want very much to,
Feel your body close to mine.
If only I knew, If I could tell you,
I want you with me all the time.

There was a time when another woman,
could never make me turn my head,
But somethin snaps when I hear you talkin,
I only wonder what's ahead

The voice that thrills me, those eyes that fill me,
With dreams of heaven in your touch,
This feeling so strong, can it be so wrong,
I want your love so very much.

I've lost control now, you've got to know how,
My heart is burning to call out your name.
My heart is beating, my mind repeating,
The words you're saying, you feel the same.

The pain is done now, our souls are one now,
Your trembling lips are pressed to mine.
My arms enfold you, forever hold you.
Your heart is mine till the end of time.

Down Below

Sorry fans. Running a little behind here and have a lot to do before the New Year.
Three more songs for --
One a week for 2015
I have tried my best to post number 50 on the blog but can't nail it down. I am not satisfied with what I have been able to record so far. So I am going to give you number 51 instead.
This is a song that I put together in about 1969 while working part time at Badger Marine. We were producing parts for the aircraft industry. I was working during the day at the radio station and evenings for about 4 hours trying to make a few extra dollars so Mama could stay home with the babies. I can't believe that was 46 years ago. Wow!
It is a religious type song. Having nothing to do with any kind of message about how to live or believe, but as the imagination takes us and then the verses come together until it becomes a song. It is a vengeful or vindictive thought that comes up with a song called "Down Below".

I met you in a tavern, shoulda seen it then,
You weren't the kind who would stay to long from sin.
For a while you were mine, we shared a love devine.
But the life you were used to was always on your mind.

(refrain)
Down below - - -Down below
I know I'll laugh when you go.
Down below - - - Down below
When you meet your maker, you're gonna meet him down below.

You must not have listened, to the little parsons words,
To love honor and obey, you must not have heard.
You've broken your vows like you've broken my heart.
Now I'll wait impatiently for you to depart.

(refrain)
Down below - - -Down below
I know I'll laugh when you go.
Down below - - - Down below
When you meet your maker, you're gonna meet him down below.

I know you won't be lonely, whenever you go,
Your friends will all be there, reapin what they've sowed.
The Devil, your master, and ruler of your soul,
Prepares a warm welcome for you down below

(refrain)
Down below - - -Down below
I know I'll laugh when you go.
Down below - - - Down below
My hell on earth is over, when you - go down below

"I want to be yours" #49

A nice melody and some good lyrics. I struggle with today's music. It seems over produced to me. Too much stuff. I am so old fashioned I know, but I still enjoy the simple things. A pretty song. Something with an easy melody and lyrics that I can relate to. But then maybe it is because I can't find a way to do any more than a basic presentation.
I may record this again live. It is one of my favorite love songs. She was a very special and exciting girl.

In my mind, In my mind I'm free,
And I know, yes I know I'll always be
Anything I want, till eternity,
And Mimi, I wanta be, I wanta be yours.

I wanta be yours babe, till the sun no longer shines,
Yours and I want you to be mine.
All the rest will be in its'own time,
Mimi I'll be yours and you be mine.

This freedom road, means an awful lot to me.
It took so long, just to know where I should be.
Now I know, yes I know and I can see,
Mimi, I want to be yours.

I wanta be yours babe, till the sun no longer shines,
Yours and I want you to be mine.
All the rest will be in its'own time,
Mimi, I'll be yours and you be mine.

I want the good times, all the good times and the fun.
I want the songs, all those songs I've never sung.
Let them flow, like honey off my tongue,
But, Mimi more than this,  I wanta be yours.

I wanta be yours babe, till the sun no longer shines,
Yours and I want you to be mine.
All the rest will be in its'own time,
Mimi I'll be yours and you be mine.

I'm gonna make it, make it all the way this time.
No lookin back to the heartaches or the cryin.
Leavin all these bitter memories far behind.
Mimi, I'll be yours and you be mine.

I wanta be yours babe, till the sun no longer shines,
Yours and I want you to be mine.
All the rest will be in its'own time,
Mimi I'll be yours and you be mine.

Song number 48 "Look up, Look up, Thy redemtion draweth nie."

"May I say to you" is what I hear. The voice and words of Dr. J. Vernon McGee with his Through the Bible programs, which are still being aired almost 30 years after his death. Thru the bible
I use his podcasts and sermons as a great source of meditation and understanding.
We have so much information at our fingertips via tv, radio, internet and telephone. Sometimes it is almost impossible, no my friends it is altogether impossible to understand what we are up against. We see through a glass darkly, as the King James bible puts it. 1st Corinthians 13:12.
It is so easy to just be taken up with our every day existence and not to worry or care about the things we seem to have absolutely no control over. But there is something you and I can do, should do. Must do! We can Pray!

My thoughts today take me to Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, South Africa, the middle East, Europe and Eastern Europe, the millions of souls who are displaced by famine and war. Most of the old world and much of the new world. I see children all gaunt and shriveled up, hollow eyed with their abdomen distended from starvation. See people drowning and being murdered while trying to flee the destruction. To use McGee's words, "may I say to you my beloved", there will be no end to these trials in our lifetime. In Luke 21:9-38,"

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him."

This song came from a dream I had in 1972. The dream was very real to me. I was standing and talking with a friend about how the Lord would come in the clouds and as I spoke to her, I looked up and saw a swirling in the clouds and then Jesus emerging with his hand reached down to me. As I saw this, I reached out my hand and was lifted up to meet him in the air. Praise God! It was and is real to me.

"Look Up, Thy redemption draweth nigh"
©1994 John Blodgett

While I kneeled in prayer last night at my bed,
The spirit of God came over me.
I will not forget the words that he said,
three times he repeated it to me.

Look up, look up, thy redemption draweth nigh
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Watch and pray that worthy you may be
to stand before the Son of Man.

As I lay asleep, I dreamed my savior came,
I was standing with a friend,
and as he approached, I heard him call my name,
He reached down and took me by the hand.

What a thrill filled my soul, as I was lifted up.
My friend was left standing there.
From behind me she called, but I couldn't turn my head
and I met my savior in the air.

What a wonderful dream, I will not forget
But a heavenly message was there.
I must reach my friends so they may not be left
and remember them always in prayer.

"Don't be waiting for me"

I have no idea why it has been so hard for me to get this song recorded and put on the blog.
Last week I see that I had 71 views on the blog from Russia. Curious about that. It was fun to see and makes a guy wonder who's watching huh?
I relate the song to the book of James in the bible.
James 1:12-15 says in the New International Version, "
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
I worked on this in a couple of different keys and settled on D major. I am counting this as song number 47, so I still owe 5 more for this year, as I have promised 52 for 2015. Maybe now I can settle in and get a few more before the new year.

Don't be waiting for me, when I call don't be home.
Don't call my name as you lie there alone,
I belong to someone else, there's no way can't you see.
Can this be hurting you as much as it's hurting me.

I know if we cheated we could never be free,
two broken hearts would pay the penalty,
I can't help how I feel, I can't lie to my soul.
I want you more than life but no one will ever know.

What Am I Gonna Do

I enjoyed a trip to Colorado back in the late 80s. Visiting my brother and just taking in the countryside. Central City, Colorado was a great place away from it all. Think that's where you would fine the "lost gold mine". Great place back then. Can't begin to imagine what it was back in the day. https://www.colorado.gov/centralcity
Maybe some movie with Henry Fonda or John Wayne would give a little look.
One of the interesting things I found there was a cemetery. The Knights of Pythias cemetery. http://www.pythias.org/
But back to the song. This is number 46 of one a week for 2015.

I thought I was free as the wind,
Nothing could ever hold me.
Then you came along like the words of a song,
Like wave after wave of the sea.

                   (refrain)
What am I gonna do babe,
What am I gonna do....
I'm so much in love with you Babe,
So much in love with you.

I stood on the top of the mountain,
Sipped of the worlds vintage wine.
Like a book that was open and page after page,
All of life's pleasures were mine.

(refrain)

I was happy to stand all alone,
There was nothing that I couldn't do.
The road rose to meet me, the wind couldn't beat me.
But what will it be without you.

(refrain)

Come with me and stand by my side.
Let's meet each new day you and I.
There's a rainbow in heaven as this time is given.
Here's my hand.  take wings.  Let's fly

(refrain)

Fore I Die

This is number 45 on the JB hit parade. Ha ha! Sure hope you like this song. It is one of the first songs I ever wrote.  I am running a little behind. I promised one a week and only have 45 songs on here at present. You can sort back through this blog from the first of the year to find the songs you like best. So, I need to post seven more songs before the end of the year. It's just a matter of sitting down and doing a little practice and playing.
My main theme is still to get some songs out there and possibly have some artist or producer pick up on it and find one or more that they could use. The songs are all copyrighted but I would be happy to share if you see something worth producing.
Please enjoy "Fore I Die".

"FORE I DIE"

Every time I hear the groanin of a diesel train,
or listen to the whinin of a jet airplane,
or watch all those people go travelin by,
I want to go where they're goin'
I want to see what they're seein'
I want to do what they're doin'
Fore I die

Like a train that has no wheels to roll
Like a miner when there is no more coal
Like a bird without the wings to fly
I could cry, Lord I could cry

Every time I see a picture in a magazine
Of some far off place, where I've never been
I fold up the picture and I want to cry
I want to go where they're goin'
I want to see what they're seein'
I want to do what they're doin'
Fore I die
