"Takin' it easy takin' it slow"

I was driving a 1985 Chevy C10 pick-up truck and pulling a 23 foot RV camper in about 1988. I was going through a divorce at the time I wrote this song and was just kicking around and trying to find a little peace and a place where I could feel some kind of normal. A long time friend was living down in Merritt Island, Florida and I had traveled down here for a few days to visit with Pam and her family. In my mind’s ear, I can still hear the sound of the skimmer on their swimming pool as I penned and played this song.
It seems so very coincidental to me this morning that in the list of songs I am doing for this year it is actually listed as number 43 and I am producing it as number 43 on the blog. Further, as I am visiting my brother whose house in Merritt Island is only about 5 blocks away from that porch enclosure where this song was written.
In the great scheme of things and God’s plan it just gives me pause. Many things have changed in these past 25 years, but then again, many things haven’t.

Takin it easy -takin it slow                                                                            43.

Leavin all my cares behind me,
Doesn't matter where I go.
No more lost and no more lonely,
Takin it easy, takin it slow.

                        (Refrain)
Let me feel the wind and rain,
Feel the sunshine on my face.
I'll take the good and stand the pain.
The chips can fall and find their place.

Half my life I've spent in givin,
That's ok I hope you know,
The other half I'll spend in livin,
You'll find me where the four winds blow.

                        (Instrumental)
Just me and old "Bo", good old pup.
driftin down life's lonesome road.
I'll take it all, I'll fill my cup.
I'll pay my share, each penny owed.

                        (Refrain)

Let my attitude be whatever,
You be you and me be me,
I won't say "I want forever",
Whatever comes, just let it be.

Lovely place this, Merritt Island, FL
