This is "Keep on Keepin on" It is real life

"Keep on Keepin on"

Ain't no reason why to, give another try
everything that I do works out wrong.
No one ever wants to
listen to and old vagabond

I use to think that one day, there would be a fun way
when all is said and done say "wasn't that a ball"
after all these years,
I guess is don't matter at all.

(refrain....)
But I know, I'll keep on keepin on.
yes I know, I'll keep on keepin on.
When my back's against the wall
I know I'll give my all.
I know I'll keep on keepin on

I guess I've lost my mind to the hoops I had to climb through
Haven't got a dime to - pay the fiddler's due.
If there was any other way, I don't have a clue

Damn this situation, confusion and frustration,
what in thunderation is left for me to try,
please forgive me now - if I just lay down and cry

(refrain....)
But I know, I'll keep on keepin on.
yes I know, I'll keep on keepin on.
When my back's against the wall
I know I'll give my all.
I know I'll keep on keepin on

When my back's against the wall
I know I'll give my all.
I know I'll keep on keepin on.

Adam lived 950 years. Can you imagine? If we take the last 10 percent of a person's life for old age, even though he enjoyed 860 years in pretty good shape, probably the last 90 years he was dealing with all these aches and pains, hearing loss, memory loss, vision loss. Problems getting around and watching your diet. At least he didn't have to worry about steroids in his meat and chemicals in his vegetables.
Even so, as he aged he would have had his children, his children's children, his children's children's children, up to about 9 generations, available to lend a hand if he needed help.
I guess these are the things we think about when we get to that last 10%.

"God's gonna get ya fer dat" Working on saving a video down to a size that can be posted on here. In the meantime, I am posting the song lyrics and thoughts. I was able to copyright the song with the U.S. Copyright office. Easier to do online but costing more than the last time. Ha, let's see, that's about twenty years ago.
Here are the lyrics.

God's gonna get ya fer dat, yeah
God's gonna get Ya fer that.
From the beginnin, ya knew that you was sinnin.
And God's gonna get ya fer that.

There wasn't any pardon with Adam in the garden.
And Eve should have left that fruit alone.
along comes the devil, tells her she could take a nibble,
Then out of the garden they was thrown.

Now down through the ages, all through the bible's pages
You'd think we could have learned a thing or two,
Genesis to revelation, giving in to the temptation,
Why do we do the things we do

Paul said "The things that I would do, those things I do not,
and the things that I would not do, those things I do.

God's gonna get ya fer dat, yeah
God's gonna get Ya fer that.
From the beginnin, ya knew that you was sinnin.
And God's gonna get ya fer that.

Ya really gotta wonder what caused David's eyes to wonder,
over to his pretty neighbor's patio.
Cause the troubles that it brought him
And the lessons that it taught him, were not a very easy way to go.

Paul said "The things that I would do, those things I do not,
The things that I would not do, those things I do.

God's gonna get ya fer dat, yeah
God's gonna get Ya fer that.
From the beginnin, ya knew that you was sinnin.
And God's gonna get ya fer that.

Nebachadneser thought he was quite a treasure,
Saying "look at all the wonders I have done.
With his arrogance and pride, spent seven years outside.
For certain sure that was not a lot of fun.

God's gonna get ya fer dat, yeah
God's gonna get Ya fer that.
From the beginnin, ya knew that you was sinnin.
And God's gonna get ya fer that.

He walked around on all fours for seven years
and his hair looked like some kinda chia pet
and his finger nails were like wendy's curly fries..
oooh couldn't even scratch himself

Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden messed up. In Genesis 3:3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,
God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
---------David, a man after God's own heart should have gone out to battle that day. Then he wouldn't have caught a glimps of the beautiful Bathsheba. 2 Samuel 11 - And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.---------And of the four kingdoms spoken of by Daniel the prophet. The greatest is the
kingdom of Nebachednezer. And god blessed his kingdom but the king got lifted up with pride and god was not pleased. Daniel 4:30-31 - 30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

It should noted here that even though there were some very grievous sins here, and that there are serious consequences for those sins, God still loves us and he did not cut us off, but has promised mercy to any who will receive it, repent of that sin and put their trust and faith in his son Jesus Christ. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But to those who will receive it, we are redeemed by the blood that He shed for us on the cross at Calvary. He will chastise those he loves.

In the weeks ahead I plan to post some of the music that God has blessed me with. I expect to put it on this blog and on You-Tube. You would find any of the recordings I have done in the past if you look for orrinson1.

Looking back it seems I left off posting my pictures of the 2012 route 66 trip. Adding a few now from Williams, AZ and up to the Grand Canyon.
 Now that's a cactus!

Great tin ceiling

People live down there
I enlarged the Mather Monument so you can read it.
 Then there is the meteor
Been there seen it. It's a drive to get there and glad
I went. Don't need to see it again
 It is a big whole

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

2015

Last year around this time, I wouldn't have given too much hope about being here today.
Blessed to be able to wish all my friends and family a very Happy and Blessed new year. I realize that I go on a lot about Jesus and God and I know that some people find that offensive or maybe they just don't care to hear it. I am truly sorry about that because I know it means they don't understand and that means they don't know a living God, Jesus Christ, my Lord and savior. The Glory and the lifter of my head. I wake every morning now with thanksgiving in my heart and I get through the day with a voice and song of praise.
I have to consider the way I feel today a miracle. In 1995 my back was so bad that I tried to get away from construction because I didn't believe it would let me keep going. When doctors look at x-rays or an MRI, one doctor remarked, "your back is shot". I suppose a person could just give in and forget it, but we have to keep going. I finally was able to retire and limit all the heavy work, and over time the pain lessens if your careful and the limitations are something you get use to and you just keep going. I have to believe that God supplies all my needs according to his riches in glory. If I seek his wisdom in decisions that I make, it seems that problems and things just work themselves out. It is not something that I can even explain. Whatever investments or Social Security or pensions that played out and allows me to stay ahead of the tax man and the collectors, I give God the glory.
On June 24th, 2013 I was calling 911 and an emergency vehicle picked me up and delivered me to the emergency room at Sherman  Hospital and Dr.s Park and Hasan. They cleared a totally blocked aortic artery. (proximal left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery of the heart) It was 45 minutes from phone call to the clearing and a stent in that artery and another on the right side. That 45 minutes cost me, in that I have a great deal of damage in the left ventricle of my heart and an area of the heart that is just not working anymore. Then there is a period of rehabilitation and change in diet. I went from 220 pounds to 160 pounds. After about three months, I was feeling some better and I think I was burning up a lot of residual strength and muscle as I was exercising every day and doing all it took to keep going. During this time trusting in God made a great deal of difference in my demeanor and gave me renewed strength every day, as I believe that whatever happened was in his hands. All the exercise, diet, a back that is full of arthritis and a lifetime of wear and tear on old injuries in knees, neck and ankle, made it difficult to keep going every day.
When I quote the scripture from Roman's 8:28 that all things work together for good, it has a different kind of meaning each day. Finding a right prescription program that works together. Finding the right exercise program that doesn't hurt and actually helps. Developing I right attitude to keep it all together. It sounds a little crazy to some but these things work for me.
1. I am able to sleep 6+ hours a night. I usually thank God each morning before I rise.
2. I hurt, so I have to get up and get going. Take my pills and have breakfast.
3. I take it easy, take care of business and social connections. Prayer time often and praise with guitar and songs of praise. (The fact that I like to sing has kept me mindful of being able to keep my lungs clear and strong. That alone probably made a huge difference in my recovery.)
4. It hurts to sit due to a bent tailbone and a boney butt. So I get up and keep moving.
5. Get out to the restaurant for a cup of d-caf and time with a friend or whoever will visit.
6. Take care of shopping and lunch through the middle of the day or go to the walking track.
7.  My back begins to get painful and I find that going to the gym and getting on a treadmill helps this. Usually run into someone who wants to visit. God generally leads me to someone who is either a blessing to me or I can be a blessing to them. The aerobics renews strength. Getting my heart rate up and blood pressure up. The medicine keeps the blood pressure low, so it makes me feel more normal when I can push it up.
8. Usually home by 5 pm and take time to fix dinner. Take my pills and just keep moving until it's time for bed. Maybe laundry or a little housekeeping.

What I am saying is that all these things work together for good. Can't sit and watch TV anymore so I spend a lot of time listening to Christian radio broadcasting (Truth for Life with Alistaire Begg, Turning Point with David Jeremiah, Focus on the Family, Family Life Today, Dr. Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindal J. Vernon McGee and thru the bible and others or sometimes I just let the computer or smart phone read the scripture to me or just read it myself). I might tune in to some internet channel like Pandora with Gospel artists and music that I like. I enjoy this so much that even though I can sit and watch a bit of tv, it's just not that important so I can feel ok about stopping the cable and saving 80 to a hundred a month. That's a thousand dollars a year.

I am told that my holding on to faith and my recovery has been inspirational for many. I hope that is so. It does make me feel a little self conscious putting so much about myself out there.
Here are a couple of pictures of the Good the Bad and the Ugly.
The process of a year and a half working towards recovery.

The years from the beginning

Interesting things that are streaming through our minds as we greet the new day.
This morning I am still thinking about being able to chronologically organize the years and events from the time of Adam and Eve to today and to come to some understanding of what was happening and at what time period it was happening. There is much information on the subject. Often you have to wade through a sea of things that don't answer the specific questions that you need answered. No one can pinpoint any absolutes concerning these important events but it is important to me to have a general outline so that I might be able to put things into a right context and a time and place when I want to think about or explain biblical history or important people and events.
I found this website to be helpful.
It offers a lot more information than I was looking for but I am able to glean the information I want from it's pages. BC meaning before Christ. BC and AD a whole nother study.

Before 4000 BC - The time that we look at concerning creation, the Garden of Eden and creation of Man. Whether you believe literally or not, the dates and times apply.
Before 2500 BC - The flood took place. Noah and family the only survivors. This happened about 1658 years from Adam.
Between 2100 and 2500 BC - Somewhere in this period is the time of Job.
Before 2100 BC It was around this time Nimrod and the tower of Babel are written of.
After this time, we begin to have a little better understanding of the times and people. This would also be a time frame from about 2000 BC to Ishmael and that would connect to Islam.
2091 BC - God sent Abram, who God later named Abraham, to Egypt.
After this we go through the descendants of Abraham..Ishmael and Isaac, Jacob, Joseph.
After Joseph the years when the people over a period of about 450 years and the Exodus.
1446 BC - The Exodus. Moses leads the people of Israel out of Egypt into the wilderness.
(I should note that Israel is the name that God gave to Jacob, so when we speak of Israel here, we speak of the descendants of Jacob)
1445 BC - During this time God gave the laws to Moses to give to the people. The Tabernacle was set up as God gave the design to Moses.
1406 BC - This is a major date.. I remember because of the "Song of Moses" Deuteronomy 33
I will sing unto the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously, the horse and the rider thrown into the sea. I love to sing it.
At this time Joshua fit the battle of Jericho. Moses died and did not cross into the promised land.
1405 BC - The sun stands still. Joshua 10
For the next 400 years or so Israel was governed by priests, (The Livite's) judges and prophets, (Samson was one of these judges)
1043 BC - The people desired a king instead of the judges. Samuel the prophet was a judge, priest and prophet. The first king was anointed...(King Saul)
1024 BC - David is anointed to be king after Saul's disobedience. It was about this time that David slew Goliath.
993 BC- David and Bathsheba.  2 Samuel 11
967 BC - Salomon becomes king.
605 BC -The time of Daniel and the Hebrew children
586 BC- The fall of Jerusalem and Jeremiah's prophecy against Babylon. 585 BC Ezekiel explains Jerusalem's fall. The time of Daniel and the Hebrew children After this time, so much of what I find so interesting including the book of Esther around 478 BC,
432 BC- Nehemiah restores the laws after a period of good kings and bad kings.  Nehemiah 13
430 BC - The book of  Malachi 1 - 4
After this there was silence from Heaven until the year 1.
6 BC  - Birth of John the Baptist.
5 BC - Birth of Jesus at Bethlehem.

All of this to put into perspective the years and time between.
1,658 years from Adam to the flood..
Then about  1,050 years from the flood to Moses and the exodus.
Then about 1,440 years from the exodus to the birth of Christ.
Then 2009 years from the birth of Jesus to today.

Redeeming the time

We take so much for granted.
Thank you Lord, for my being able this morning to get up and start the day. Thank you for the strength to take care of every day tasks, to know and understand what bills need to be paid and the finances placed in my hand to pay them. You have furnished me with the income and resources to keep a nice home. To have all the blessings that are so easy to take for granted. Fresh water and indoor plumbing. Rooms filled with comforts and pleasant things. Power for lights, telephone, radio and television. Books and papers to read. Everything I look at as I sit here....musical instruments, pictures, computer, closets full of clothes, drawers filled with stuff  etc....all so taken for granted every day. People who I love and who love me that I can reach and talk to any time I want to.
Now as I write this note, I think of someone who wakes this morning and thanks you for the blanket to cover them as they rise from a dirt floor. They trust you for the bit of wood for a fire, the container of water for their thirst and a bit of bread or grain to make a morsel of something to eat and a corner where they were able to lay down last night. Thank you Lord for reminding me this morning how truly blessed I am.
Interesting, when we are sick that we have much time to pray and think about God. As our health improves, we get busy doing other things and it becomes harder and harder to set aside the time to be with God. Forgive me Lord for being so selfish and self centered.Thank you for time to pray and or study your word. It becomes more and more about me and less and less about all you have done for me. Thank you Jesus, for the strength to get going and feel well each day. Thank you for the resources to accomplish these every day tasks. Give me I pray, the wisdom to see what things need to be prayed for, and the things that need to be accomplished today. Help me see those failings in me that you want to correct. Give me the ability to see each day what I might do to honor you and pass along the blessings to a friend, neighbor or anyone you put on my heart and mind to help.
